RAGE MP was always the second-place alternative multiplayer behind FiveM, but its role on certain RP servers - including some early-NoPixel-era big projects - made it consequential.

For the FiveM question, see the FiveM equivalent piece.

What RAGE MP was

An alternative multiplayer client for GTA V - similar in concept to FiveM, smaller in active community. It ran some major RP servers and developed its own modder community.

RAGE MP was technically distinct from FiveM and used a different scripting environment. Some servers preferred it; most preferred FiveM.

Where RAGE MP sits for GTA 6

Now that Rockstar owns Cfx.re (FiveM), RAGE MP's position is harder. Without official integration, RAGE MP for GTA 6 is a community project that has to do everything by itself - a much smaller community than FiveM's, with no acquisition relationship.

Whether RAGE MP attempts a GTA 6 version, succeeds, and competes with whatever Rockstar's FiveM-derived offering looks like is genuinely uncertain. Curated GTA 6 server lists tend to surface the smaller frameworks alongside the dominant one once both are live, which is how players actually find RAGE-style alternatives in practice.
