Vice City is back. The 2002 fan favourite - last seen in palm-tree-soaked 1980s pastel - returns in GTA 6 as the urban centrepiece of the much larger state of Leonida. The new Vice City is bigger, denser, and rebuilt around modern Florida geography rather than the compressed map-grid of the original.
This guide covers the districts trailer footage has revealed, the landmarks the community has identified, and how the new Vice City fits into the broader Leonida map.
Vice City's place in the new map
Vice City sits in the south of Leonida, hugging the coast. North of the city: suburbs that fade into wetlands. South: an island chain modelled on the Florida Keys. Inland: rural towns and swampland. This means Vice City is no longer the entire map - it's the densest urban zone within a larger state, similar to how Los Santos sits inside the broader San Andreas in GTA 5.
The city itself appears divided into several distinct districts, each with its own visual character. Trailer footage shows clear contrasts: neon beachfront, a corporate downtown, a port district, and what looks like a Little Havana-inspired neighbourhood.
Confirmed Vice City districts
The first trailer focused heavily on the beachfront - covered in depth in our Vice City Beach guide - and a wealthy waterfront strip. The second trailer added downtown high-rises, a sprawling port, suburban inland zones, and footage that suggests a barrio neighbourhood with strong Cuban-American visual cues. Specific neighbourhood names haven't been published, but our trailer map locations breakdown pins each frame to a likely region.
Expect the final Vice City to have 6-10 named districts at launch, with side neighbourhoods and unincorporated zones bringing the total much higher. Compare to GTA 5's Los Santos, which shipped with around 25 named neighbourhoods.
Landmarks confirmed by trailer footage
The neon-lit beachfront, art deco hotels, the bridge connecting Vice City to the offshore islands, an airport (likely Vice City International), a sprawling port complex, a downtown core with mid-rise glass towers, and what appears to be a horse-racing track or stadium. Several locations look like clear nods to real Miami landmarks rebuilt with Rockstar's usual satirical edits.
How Vice City compares to the original (2002)
Geographic structure - dense urban island connected to a less-developed mainland - returns. Visual identity has shifted dramatically: the new Vice City is a contemporary 2020s Miami analogue, not a stylised 1980s callback. Pastel palette, art deco, and neon are present but read as contemporary nostalgia rather than period setting.

Future map mods and Vice City
Once the PC version ships and the toolchain matures, expect the GTA 6 modding community to extend Vice City heavily - custom MLO interiors, additional neighbourhood add-ons, and themed reskins. GTA 6 custom map downloads will be the destination when those become downloadable.
