GTA San Andreas using neighbourhood-as-character (Grove Street vs Ballas territory). GTA V using Los Santos's wealth gap. RDR2 using west-as-frontier. Each map carries narrative weight on its own.

GTA 6 will likely do the same - Vice City's contemporary inequality, the wetlands as outside-the-system, the Keys as escape territory.
