Map wallpapers, posters and high-res renders are typically the first map content you'll see available for download after a big Rockstar game release. Most don't actually exist yet for GTA 6 - the game isn't out yet, nobody has extracted the in-game cartography, and Rockstar hasn't released any official hi-res versions. Use this page to set your expectations accordingly, and learn what to ignore.

We'll update GTA 6 map downloads when real wallpapers and renders become available. Until then, approach anything that claims to be a 'leaked GTA 6 map wallpaper' with extreme scepticism.

What's currently available

Rockstar has released a few pieces of official artwork alongside the trailers. These are usable as wallpapers and are currently the only legitimately official GTA 6 images out there. Everything else (fan renders, AI-generated maps, purportedly "leaked maps") is unofficial.

There are so many fan-made trailer screencaps and stills floating around. They're great for personal use, but they aren't 'the GTA 6 map'. They are screenshots of cinematic shots, not actual representations of the playable map's geography.

What will be available at launch

Rockstar usually ships the in-game map as a hi-res data asset, which players extract and re-upload as wallpapers within hours of launch. The GTA 5 map was distributed in 4K and even 8K formats within a day of launch. Prepare for the same thing to happen with GTA 6.

Printable poster considerations

Want to print out a GTA 6 map poster? Don't bother with screenshots from the trailers - they aren't high enough resolution for large prints. Wait for the official high-res map. Once someone extracts the map from the game, there will most likely be community releases formatted for print (300 DPI, standard poster sizes).

Third-party shops will begin selling custom printed maps when the official cartography is released. Some will be sanctioned, but most will not - Rockstar aggressively protects its IP, and unauthorised commercial printing is technically infringement. Printing them for your own use is perfectly acceptable, though.

Spotting fakes

Fake 'GTA 6 maps' have been floating around the internet for years now - Photoshopped versions of GTA 5 maps with Florida overlays, AI-generated ones, and elaborate fan maps presented as leaks. General rule of thumb: if it doesn't follow the geography presented in the official trailers (Vice City's beach in the south, wetlands inland, the Keys further south) or looks too crisp for something that was leaked, then it's fake.

When GTA 6 map downloads releases its wallpaper category, all assets listed will be screened. Start there instead of searching through random results.

Custom and modded wallpapers

Once the modding scene matures, there will likely be user-created wallpaper/poster content based on modded iterations of the map - alternate colour palettes, cartography styles, region-specific posters, etc. Fan art projects have yielded some of the best-looking GTA wallpapers in the past; this trend will not change for GTA 6.

The GTA 6 modding scene generally creates these alongside mod releases - keep an eye out for them when the main mods drop.
