Interactive maps - the kind where you click and pan to find collectibles, mission triggers, hidden caches, properties, and points of interest - are some of the most-used companion tools in any GTA's lifespan. GTA 5 had several. GTA 6 will too. This page is what to expect from them and how to use them.

For the static map context see our GTA 6 map guide. For map wallpapers and printable downloads, that's a separate page.

What interactive maps actually do

An interactive map is a high-resolution rendering of the in-game cartography overlaid with filterable data: collectibles, mission markers, properties for sale, easter egg locations, business/social-content nodes, and so on. You toggle layers on and off, zoom in to specific districts, and use the map as a planning tool while playing.

The first interactive maps for GTA 6 will likely launch within days of the game's release, populated initially with whatever data the launch-day community can confirm. They'll get more comprehensive over the following weeks as collectibles and side content get fully catalogued.

Layers you'll see post-launch

Standard layers from past GTA interactive maps: collectibles (action figures, signal jammers, etc), mission triggers, properties for purchase, vehicle spawn locations, dealership locations, businesses, gun shops, clothing stores, hidden packages.

GTA 6-specific layers will likely add: airboat docks (for the wetlands), boat marinas (for the Keys), beach access points along Vice City Beach, and possibly RP server zone overlays once those launch.

Who builds interactive maps

Historically, fan sites and small community-run projects. Some get acquired by larger gaming sites, some stay independent. The bar for usefulness is data completeness rather than visual polish - the best interactive maps are the ones that catalogue most thoroughly.

Rockstar itself has historically not shipped an official interactive map. They publish a static cartography asset and let the community handle the rest. Expect the same with GTA 6.

Beyond launch: modded and RP overlays

Once the modding and RP server scene mature, interactive maps with overlay support for specific servers and mods become valuable - 'where on this server is the cartel base?' or 'where does this mod add new MLOs?' This category usually emerges 6-12 months after launch.

Curated interactive map content tied to specific modded versions of the game will be tracked through GTA 6 map downloads alongside the underlying map mods themselves.

How to use interactive maps without spoiling yourself

Interactive maps are a spoiler vector for first playthroughs. If you want to discover the map naturally, hide the mission and collectible layers and only consult the map for specific lookups. Most interactive maps support layer toggling specifically for this reason.

On second playthroughs and post-game, interactive maps are usually how you find the collectibles you missed. They become essentially essential for 100% completion runs.
